FRANKFORD MAIN ROAD PROJECT WELCOMED
The Legislative Councillor for Rosevears, Kerry Finch, has welcomed the announcement that the Federal Government is considering the Frankford Main Road as a priority in its $430 million plan for Tasmania’s transport infrastructure.
A final decision on whether the Frankford Main Road will be included is to be made early next year.
“It deserves to be top of the list,” Mr Finch said.
“I’ve been arguing for this vital transport link to be improved since I was first elected nearly seven years ago, and it seems that at last we’ll have a highway instead of a main road.”
Mr Finch said he planned to get together with the West Tamar Council to put a strong argument to the Federal Government.
“If they are also considering spending $150 million on Bell Bay, it makes sense to improve this link to Devonport and the North West,” Mr Finch said.
