ARTS PONTOON –LAUNCH OF JOAN WEBB’S BOOK “HANGING BY MY TOE”
SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 30, 2008

It’s a pleasure to be here to “unwind” before the silly season” as my invitation said.
A lot of politicians seem to be insensitive to the arts---or perhaps other funding priorities push the arts towards the back of the queue. But you must never give up---keep the invitations going out to politicians. You never know you might just strike lucky, especially if you invite bald Federal ministers.

I am here partly to help launch Joan Webb’s latest book, “hanging by my Toe.”

I agree with Joan, ‘ Nostalgia ain’t what it used to be.” I’m sure we can all concur with that sentiment.

And if I could just quote another rather apposite one—suitable for Anzac Day perhaps…”War does not determine who is right, only who is left.”
